Larry Michaelsen

Larry Michaelsen (aka Mike) peacefully passed away on June 18th, 2021. He was born on August 30th, 1939 in Taft California to Hazel and Harry Michaelsen. He was raised in Taft where his father worked for “Atlantic Richfield” and his mother worked for the Taft Fort, cooking and caring for the elderly.
Larry met the love of his life, Deva Maize, while working at the “Fox Theatre” in Taft. Soon after they met, they married, and moved to Torrance California, where he worked for “Shell Chemical”. He was later offered a dealership with the “Herald Examiner” newspaper in Simi Valley. He worked for them seven days a week for 25 years. After leaving the “Herald Examiner”, he worked for “Anheuser Busch” as a salesman for approximately 8 years. After leaving “Anheuser Busch” he went on to work for the “Simi Valley School District” as a custodian for 10 years upon retiring. It is there where they raised their 3 children.
Larry enjoyed spending time with Family and Friends after retiring. The one most important thing to him was to be able to provide and care for his family.
Larry leaves behind his wife Deva of 61 years; eldest son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Barb; daughter, “the apple of his eye” Diane; youngest son Tim; daughter-in-law, Marie; brother, Mark; sister-in-law, Judy; grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Vanessa, Steven; great grandson, Logan; and his beloved dog Kallie.
