David Rives

David R. Rives, 83, of Thousand Oaks, died Jan 17, 2015 after a long illness. David was born in 1931, in Texas and had been a resident of Ventura County for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War.
David moved to Simi Valley in 1965 and in 1967 he became a business owner opening the Simi Valley Insurance; if that wasn’t enough David opened a second business in 1975, True Value Home Center who’s prior name was Discount Home Center. He loved working in the hardware store helping and talking to the customers.
David is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte; children Steve of Grant Pass, Oregon; Cindy Shaban and husband Charles of Camarillo; grandchildren, Cristal, Cassie, Danny, Christina and Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Alana, Isabel and Brooklyn. He was predeceased in death by his grandson Tommy.
In celebration of David’s life, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Reardon Simi Valley Funeral Home.
