Danette Liane Perry was a special person. Whether she was crocheting hats to make fellow breast cancer warriors feel cared for or simply showing loving patience to her two little boys, Danette had a kind and gentle soul. Her smile was big and infectious - even as she was battling cancer, all of her nurses commented on how it lit up the room.
While we are immensely sad about the short time we were given, we celebrate the beauty of Danette and the life she built. She and her husband, Brad, were fortunate to have 23 years together. They started their adventures traveling the West Coast and then settled in Simi Valley, CA to be close to family and friends. They have two amazing, active, inquisitive boys, Jack and Nicholas. Danette loved being a “boy mom,” sharing with them her love of animals, camping and the outdoors.
Danette cherished family – she had a tight bond with her parents, Janice and Tom, and sister, Tina, and enjoyed spending time with extended family, many of whom were at her bedside when she passed on.
An avid and gifted crochet-er, Danette spread joy with her many projects, particularly the fun hats she made for those who lost their hair to chemotherapy. She loved her job and made many kind friends – so many of whom generously supported the family in their time of need – during her 13 years working for the City of Simi Valley.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched and inspired by Danette are invited to reminisce, grieve, and support each other at a funeral service and reception to be held at Grace Church (2900 Sycamore Drive, Simi Valley) on Saturday, October 19 at 10:00am.
Danette asked that guests please do not wear black as we celebrate her life.
While Danette loved flowers and tending to her garden, the family requests that you consider a donation in her honor to the Marcelle Erian Cancer Foundation: https://www.marcelleeriancancerfoundation.org/donate
