Billie Lou Bissell (1922~2023)
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Billie Lou Bissell, who passed away peacefully
on July 29, 2023 in Simi Valley, California.
Billie Lou Bissell was born Billie Lou Hardy on May 4th, 1922 to Clayton Hardy and Elizabeth O'Roark in Grayson, Kentucky. Her family moved to Lansing, Michigan where she would meet her husband Donald Beecher Bissell and later get married in 1942. The couple would later move to Glendale, California where they had two children,
Linda Jean Bissell (1947) and Richard Bissell (1950).
Billie's passion was painting which she learned as a young child in Michigan, she continue to paint portraits as a side job and worked as a legal secretary for a law firm. After retiring in 1989, Billie loved to travel with her husband Don and family.
Billie had a love for life, she always had a smile on her face, and touched the lives of everyone she met.
Billie was proceeded in death by her son Richard Bissell, husband Donald Bissell. her grandson Jim Dolson, and her daughter Linda Dolson. She is survived by her great granddaughters, Rhiannon and Saoirse Dolson, her sister Ouida Worley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family gathering will be held at Riverside National Cemetery where Billie Lou will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Donald Bissell.
