Michael Thompson

January 5, 1941 — May 28, 2019

Michael Thompson, Beloved father, son, and brother, passed away at home on Tuesday, the 28th of August 2019, at the age of 78, after long battles with several illnesses. A memorial service is planned at St Francis of Assisi Church in Simi Valley, Ca at 2 pm on Saturday August 24th 2019.
His parents, and sister preceded him in death. Survived by his two loving daughters, Vicki Jo Bayles of Simi Valley Ca, and Teri Lyn Thompson of Van Nuys Ca; grandaughters Brittany Ann Bayles of Mountain View Ca, and Brooke Lyn Bayles of Los Angeles Ca.
Born January 5th 1941 in Arizona. Married to High School sweetheart Judy Ann Neely, in January 1959, divorced in 1976. He attended High School in El Paso Texas, graduated and moved to Los Angeles Ca where he worked in his father's spring factory and attended Cerritos College. A music and arts lover throughout his life, he had his own funny language that he used to crack his daughters up with whenever we needed a laugh. Or not! He pursued a love of acting while working as a lanscaper, and developing his own company. He took classes at Pierce College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Drama. He appeared in many plays and a few films too. Also doing voice-over work, he even won Best Actor for his part in Arsenic and Old Lace in 1990. His many friends in the acting community will greatly miss him. Especially his friends in the Canyon Country Theatre group. He was a loyal and trusting friend who never said a bad word about anyone, and was always there for his friends.
He was fluent in Spanish, and in many dialects. Some of which he used to make us laugh.
He was always painting, singing, sculpting, and dancing. After an injury landscaping a hill at the Getty Museum, he was unable to continue working as a lanscaper. So he took to school to become a Spanish interpreter. He only had his final to take when he had a major stroke in 2003, and lost his ability to speak. His humor showed through in the charades we'd have to play to communicate. The funny names and noises still making us laugh! His love of football was shared with Teri, to this day. "Every game I watch, I watch with Dad".
During his illnesses, Vicki nursed, catered, and cajoled him through it all. His love of reading was passed down to his girls as well. He always kept fit and trim, just like he was in High school.
After the stroke, and he was no longer able to work, he turned to wood carving, and the many activities and friends at the Simi Valley Senior center. His carvings were one of a kind and beautiful.
Through COPD, mouth cancer, that he beat, and seizures, Vicki nursed him through. While Teri loved to come, sit, and enjoy, just being with him.
His passing surprised everyone. He was still so vital, and then he was gone. Goodbye Dad. Rest in Peace.
