Maxine Gardner

Maxine Mary (Rezmerski) Gardner passed away on July 31, 2019. She was born in Johnsonburg, PA on
July 4, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Pavlock) Rezmerski.
She was a graduate of the Johnsonburg High School Class of 1944.
Maxine was a 55 year resident of Simi Valley, CA, previously of Northridge, CA.
She is survived by her son Robert A. Gardner; her daughter Cathy Rifkin; son-in-law Alan Rifkin;
granddaughters Kristin Rifkin and Brooke Gardner, and Brooke’s husband Evan Swanger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wilson Gardner; daughter-in-law Adrienne Gardner;
four brothers: John, Walter, Stanley, and Thomas; and seven sisters: Theresa Flor, Wanda Pantini, Lucille
Brechtel, Josephine Hagman, Agnes Linville, Regina Beirne, and Catherine Brechtel.
She was an avid reader and loved her volunteer activities, which included, reading to children at St. Rose
of Lima Elementary School and Simi Valley Elementary School, volunteering at St. Rose of Lima Catholic
Church, St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, and the Simi Valley Senior Center.
She was a retired from the United States Department of Justice, United States Attorney’s Office in Los
Angeles.
