Lorraine Benavidez

May 28, 1969 — May 16, 2020

Lorraine Juarez Benavidez was born in Encino, CA on May 28, 1969, the first child of Salvador and Maria Juarez. Lorraine attended Simi Valley High School and graduated in 1988 where she met her high school sweetheart Joseph Benavidez. Shortly after they married on December 22, 1990, and moved to Marina, CA where Joseph was stationed in the military. After Joseph was discharged, they returned to Simi Valley to be close to their family.
Lorraine loved to garden, crochet, go camping, make crafts, listen to music and spending time with family and friends. Lorraine loved to laugh, crack jokes and watch comedies. She especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Christopher, Ryan, Garret, Tyler, Ethan, Annabel, Savanah, Jade, and Allison.
Lorraine was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2005 and survived beyond expectations. She had two more recurrences and fought each one courageously. In total, Lorraine fought cancer for 15 years. She didn’t let that stand in her way in living her life and lived life to the fullest. She cherished each birthday and holiday with her husband, family and friends.
Lorraine died peacefully with her husband by her side on May 16, 2020 at her home in Simi Valley after a long battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Joseph; parents, Salvador and Maria; sisters, Dana Powell (Matthew) and Cheryl Gutierrez (Victor); brother; Sal Juarez (Hisako); and her in-laws, Eusebio and Susan Benavidez, Liz Martinez, Robert Benavidez, Susana Voigt (Greg) and Renee Rodriguez.
Lorraine was loved and was surrounded by family during the last weeks of her life. Lorraine will be missed tremendously but we know that she is home with our Lord, pain free and walking again. She is standing tall and whole again.
A church service and celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
