Obituary for Frances Ann Richards

Frances Ann Richards was born in a small town near Livonia, Indiana on October 2, 1929. She was the sixth child and considered to be the ‘baby’ of the family. At 20-years-old, she joined a country music band known as the Hoosier Wranglers and traveled all over the Midwest and the South singing with country music legends like Gene Autry. In 1968, she moved to Simi Valley, California and opened two beauty shops in Westlake Village, California. Her two children: Yolanda Sherry Kumar married Sam Kumar and Jerry Travis Nickell (deceased) married Debbra Nickell.
Her biggest achievement was traveling across the U.S. and the world to share God’s word with countless people in the Philippines, Cayman Islands, Israel, Egypt, as well as several states including the Angelus Temple in East Los Angeles. Her proudest moment was opening Rejoice Ministries Church in Simi Valley where she preached the gospel, baptized the faithful and dedicated many to the Lord. She had recently retired, after serving the community more than 30 years.
Frances Ann was a grandmother of five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Reggie and Anna Kumar, Matt Kumar and Theodora Greece, Crystal and Robert Stephens, Sarah and Joey Thompson, J.J. Nickell, Elizabeth Thompson, Hayden Kumar, Madilynn Thompson and Hanah Kumar.

Pastor Fran was an incredible spiritual guide, teacher, and charismatic preacher and she had a big impact in our community. . She welcomed my family into her church with open arms and I will cherish all the fun memories of praising the Lord at Rejoice Ministries, the Holy Spirit filled services, the warm fellowship and hospitality, the feisty music played and sung by Jerry, Pastor Lonnie, Glenda, and Tom and Fran's continual dedication to praying for our needs. Thanks to you Pastor Fran. Well done faithful servant! Dance in heaven with Jesus!
Love Sandra, Jim, and James

Dearest Aunt Fran you are a special loving person who reflected the love of Jesus in everything you did. We are very sure the saints are rejoicing in Heaven now because one of their beloved has joined them in all their glory. You greatly blessed our hearts with your warmth and with the goodness of your love. God gave you the wonderful gift of totally focusing on someone and earnestly listening to all the pains, joys and desires they might have. You always made us feel like the most important person in the room. Also you always blessed us with your singing. Your voice is truly a gift from God to all of us. You draw us into His presence as you sing about your dear Lord.

You remind us so much of our mom – your sister. She has been gone for a long time but we have been so blessed to have you serving as “Mom” for all these years. We always felt closer to her spirit because of you and how you loved us unconditionally as she always did. We will sorely miss you and we look forward to your wonderful welcome at the Pearly Gates!
