Anthony Papaleo

September 29, 1930 — January 4, 2021

Anthony Papaleo was born 90 years ago in Brooklyn, New York. He was a loving son of Mary and Vincenzo and a brother to four sisters and 5 brothers. He is survived by his sister Dolores in Brooklyn and his brother Robert in Florida.
Anthony was a devoted husband and is survived by Rosemary, his loving wife of 69 years.
Having been raised and surrounded by so many siblings, it was inherently natural that he would be a loving Dad of two daughters (Patricia and Rosemary) and four sons (Anthony, William, Robert and Michael).
Anthony is Grandfather to 15. He was preceded to Heaven by his Grandson Domenic Michael. A Great-Grandfather to 17. He is also an Uncle to 60 plus nieces and nephews.
Anthony was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a tank commander and fought in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir. He was an active member of the Army Chapter of the Chosin Few.
Anthony was a machinist for almost 50 years. He machined thousands of parts that were used on many commercial and military aircrafts. Anthony took pride that his machined parts were on the Apollo 11 Lunar Module, that landed on the surface of the Moon.
In his mid-50’s, when most people are planning their retirements, Anthony move out to Simi Valley, California from Long Island, NY and worked for Northrop Grumman, making parts for the B2 Bomber.
Anthony had a gift of story telling that caused people to be drawn to him at the dinner table or at get togethers. People of all ages would listen to the many funny or serious stories about his up-bringing and life experiences. His natural story telling was cherished by people of all ages.
Anthony will be going home to Long Island. Interment will be on January 22, 2021, at 11 am, at the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
